Another day, another training breakfast at The Dressing Room! We're always keen to brush up on our current knowledge as well as learn more snippets of information about the brands we stock. This morning the lovely John and Isabell visited us in store for some training on American Vintage. Coffees in hand, notebooks at the ready, we were all ready to some brand facts to be fired at us!
The name may throw you, but American Vintage is actually a French brand, established by Michael Azoulay in 2005. The brand's name is derived from the designers source of inspiration in America, hence why every piece in American Vintage's collections are named after states and towns in America! Inspired by the Californian effortless style, American Vintage was started with the initial idea of creating the perfect female t-shirt. Michael Azoulay was set on designing a tee with the perfect fit, cut, weight and colour, and since then the brand has continued to create incredible basics as well as branching out into more fashion styles.
John and Isabell refreshed our knowledge of American Vintages core styles, including the Jacksonville and Massachusets tees which you'll find in our Core Classics. These are the ultimate pieces the layering concept which American Vintage is known for. Grab a couple of tees in a couple of colours and layer them up for effortless everyday style.
The DR team were also reminded that American Vintage is an 'in-season brand' meaning there are no forward orders. Typically, Deryane will be buying seasons ahead of where we are (she's currently been buying for Spring Summer 2017!), but American Vintage is ordered just before it arrives. This alllows flexibility and the brand can be really reactive within the season. . .if that bright blue Jacksonville is proving really popular and selling out, American Vintage can make and send more! This also means if Deryane notices we need more tees, she can order them and they'll arrive within days - so always remember to speak to us about what you're looking for and we'll be happy to help.
Side note: You may notice the shop is looking slightly odd in the photos above. . .we've got something very exciting happening so keep your eyes peeled on here and our social channels for all to be revealed very soon!
