Our year in pictures 2019.
2019 has certainly been fun packed year for The Dressing Room Team!
In true new year fashion, we started the year refreshing the store and office, adding a super luxe feel with greenery and new paintwork, embracing our Scandinavian style branding.
As you know, we love to make shopping all about the fun experience and you absolutely loved our events in 2019! Our Floral Dream event really embraced the Spring blooms and you loved our brightly coloured ‘Over The Rainbow’ windows for our Summer event. We gave away over 320 goody bags and over £8,000 worth of prizes and giveaways last year!
We were proud to support some new charities throughout the year with our events with a real focus on local charities including Open Doors St Albans – helping the homeless, Peace Hospice, Mad About Harry Banks fundraising, and the Rainbow Trust – children’s charity.
It was the year for celebrating and supporting women, with our feature in March for International Women’s Day, showcasing some of the talented female designers and brands that we stock. Followed by our Influencer event in May inviting several influential women that you love to follow for fashion and lifestyle inspiration: Beth Goodhram, Chloe Loves To Shop, Stripey Coral, Turquoise Flamingo & Victoria Jane-Morris.
Our pop-up area was extremely popular in 2019 with a J brand denim pop up, a Shoe the Bear launch, Meet the Maker with Hayley Menzies and Rachel Jackson jewellery to name just a few…... do not fear we have lots more for 2020, so stay tuned!
Always one to get involved with initiatives, Deryane attended a number of events as a guest speaker, firstly speaking about Sustainability in Retail at the Telegraph’s Responsible Fashion Forum, a judge for the Boutique Magazine Star Awards, and finishing the year by encouraging young people to enter the world of retail with her Q&A session at the Fashion Retail Academy.
Other business collaborations included our tie up with The Ivy where we hosted an influencer lunch with some local bloggers and our collaboration with the launch of Berkhamsted’s ‘Copperhouse Bar & Restaurant’. In September we had the pleasure of hosting our very own fashion show & dinner at Copperhouse Bar & Restaurant, showcasing new season pieces and London Fashion Week inspired trends. We hosted a private shopping event with Rayden’s Solicitors in October and launched our Wardrobe Home Consultation service, bringing a little bit of the DR to your home!
Deryane, Charley and Laura went hunting for new resort brands whilst on their buying trip to Paris. After around 300 showroom appointments throughout the year, Deryane added 17 new brands to The Dressing Room Edit with some of your new favourites including Baum und Pferdgarten, Sous Les Paves, Levete Room, Nunoo Bags, and Stripe & Stare.
We were excited to announce that The Dressing Room took on a press company, Good Results PR in 2019, with the DR branding popping up in lots of magazines and fashion sites, including Stylist Magazine, Woman & Home, Daily Mail, Who What Wear, Independent and not forgetting being voted as one of the Top 50 boutiques in Stella magazine!
The team then embarked on our biggest undertaking yet, securing one of the largest stands at the Stylist Luxe Live show, held at a new building, Magazine London in November. After 6 months of preparation The Dressing Room had a mini shop in the heart of the show, with 150 goody bags to giveaway, Christmas cracker personalisation, and our curated exclusive luxe range of clothing and accessorises. The range was designed and produced in collaboration with some of our brands such as Mercy Delta, Pyrus, On The Rise, Stardust, Nooki, and Stripe & Stare. As a independent we focused on niche brands which also included Shoe The Bear, Bailey & Buetow, Nunoo and Levete Room.
There were also lots of personal milestones for Team Dressing Room, with Becky celebrating her wedding in June as well as an expanded team to 21 members of staff. New members included Maithena our Accountant, Beth our Website Assistant, along with new shopfloor stylists Amee, Emma & Jenna. You can read all about the team over on our meet the team page.
So, all in all a very busy and positive year for The Dressing Room, a huge thank you to all of our wonderful customers and suppliers for supporting an independent business – we couldn’t appreciate you more!
Bring on 2020 :) X
