Our Trip To Paris: Ganni

It’s safe to say that when Deryane invited me to Paris to view the new Ganni collection back in June, I had a real ‘pinch-me’ moment. I’ve loved this brand since before I started at the Dressing Room nearly 5 years ago and always invest in a few pieces with each new season. I knew how well this brand would sit amongst our collection, especially alongside our existing Scandi brands like Stine Goya and Stella Nova. When Deryane, asked if I’d accompany her to Paris I couldn’t say yes quick enough!

We arrived in Paris and immediately headed for some shopping in Le Marais - the city’s historical independent shopping quarter before we headed to the Ganni showroom and were whisked up to the rooftop bar for a coffee. As we overlooked the Eiffel tower and the bustling streets of Paris below, we discussed what aspects of the Ganni aesthetic we love.

We pulled ourselves away from the amazing view and met with the lovely Shelby, the brand’s agent who I had met previously when she was a sales assistant in the Ganni working in the Beak Street store (we joked about how she once sold me a pair of pinstripe trousers I still love dearly). She then showed us the Pre SS24 collection in the show room… there was such an interesting mix of masculine tailoring and hyper feminine florals, along with a combination of textures & prints including mesh, jacquard and the brand’s instantly recognisable leopard print.

I then get to do one of my favourite aspects of my job, watching and assisting Deryane in selecting our Dressing Room edit. Deryane has taken 2 aspects of the Ganni brand for our indie edit, first of all the iconic casual slogan t-shirts, sweatshirts & vest tops, perfect for that everyday cool off duty feel. The other side is the elevated feminine feel to the Ganni Womenwear collection, with sharp tailoring, luxe leopard skirts, dresses and blouses, which would look amazing styled with some cowboy boots for the complete Ganni girl vibe!

Since its founding in 2000 as a cashmere brand, husband and wife duo Nicolaj Reffstrup and Ditte Reffst have seen Ganni grow into the edgy cult brand it remains today.
