The jJourney to this Year’s Wild Christmas windows

Our Christmas windows are here and we couldn’t be happier to kick off the festive celebrations with our Luxe Christmas Creation. For this year’s windows I knew I wanted a really rich seasonal display that instantly said ‘Christmas’.  I discussed my plan with Charlotte when we were on the Eurostar to Paris for our buying trip back in September.

I knew I wanted lots of greenery and lights adorning the entrance, to give an instant luxe, cosy Christmassy feel when you enter the store. From this initial starting point we then research lots of different styles and ideas and knew we wanted a modern twist on the traditional looking Christmas garlands. I will admit that I love the planning and ideas but do not have the creative capabilities to make it happen!  That’s where my very talented team come in!

I settled on the idea of the garland framing the top and one corner of the doorway, a slightly more stylistic look than the tradition full frame. Then Zoe (our expert on all things green and floral!) was my next port of call to discuss the possibilities of this, exactly what foliage this would entail and how it would come to together.

Many more discussions with Charlotte continued over the coming weeks, looking at how we wanted to carry the Christmas theme through to the main windows. Originally the garland theme was going to carry on inside until Charlotte said that what we really need is some Leopard print! Being such a massive trend for A/W24, from many of our amazing brands such as Ganni, Essentiel Antwerp, Damsen Madder (and many more…see our leopard edit!) we felt it would be only right to bring this trend into our Christmas theme.

Charlotte then went down a research rabbit hole of Leopard decorations! Looking at a huge variety of different ways we could bring this into our display. When she discovered that Leopard paper Pom Poms actually existed, that was decision made! We used this starting point to bring the trailing garland theme into the store but this time made totally of paper Pom Poms! Teaming the leopard print with rich copper and gold and the addition of warm white lights everywhere….(you can never have too many lights at Christmas right?!) really helped pull together the luxe theme.

Many discussions, mood boards and phone calls later and the window plan was finalised.

After a few anxious phone calls for Charley and Charlotte discussing how they would actually assemble the garland of Pom Poms, on the day the plan all came together. Zoe was up at the crack of dawn to begin the foliage display and she and Charley created the most beautiful Christmassy entrance to The Dressing Room, which I am so thrilled with! Then Charlotte and Charley worked for many hours to install the display for the instore windows. Many nervous moments, lots of wire, tape, ribbon and lights later and the look was complete!

I am so thrilled to see the vision come together and even though I love all the windows we’ve done in the past, I think this has to be my favourite one to date!

I hope it gives you a warm Christmassy feeling and reminds you of why shopping small is all about the detail, care, love and attention that we put into making your shopping experience special.  So remember, where you can, support small business this Christmas, it makes a difference to real people.
