OUR YEAR IN PICTURES - 2024
2024 was an eventful year as always at The Dressing Room with lots of travel, new collections, team celebrations and of course another Dressing Room Baby at the end of the year!
Looking back on the year is always lovely to see all of the activity and events that have gone into to making your The Dressing Room Shopping experience so fun. So here are our highlights....
Trends and Talking Points!
The year kicked off with the most talked about jean of 2024 – the Citizens of Humanity horseshoe jean. It was an immediate love or hate item, I embraced the trend from the outset and have rarely been out of them ever since! The shape filtered down into some more refined barrel leg options and it was definitely the denim shape of the year and continues to be a firm favourite for 2025 and beyond with styles like the citizens of humanity Miro and Marcelle, Paige Alexis and Frame Le Bubble key styles for future collections.
We all embraced our inner cowgirl with the Rodeo Romance trend being a key look for the year alongside lots of Leopard Love. We saw a strong return for Chocolate Brown and Red hues in our favourite colours this year, both of which are key colours for 2025.
Events and Brand Collabs – gosh we’ve been busy!
The year kicked off with our launch of Munthe Simple Studio window and pop up area, shortly followed by our Spring event in collaboration with Rachel Jackson and their bespoke Amulet bar, kicking the Spring season off with beautiful floral displays in the windows and store.
Veja took over our windows for a collaboration in the Spring and for Summer we had a great collab with Woden sandals with a pop up pedicure bar for the day!
Our Autumn event was all about Rodeo Romance where we embraced the trend throughout our store, windows and goody bags.
Throughout the year we had some fab brand collaborations with bespoke Stella Nova windows and our annual Shoe the Bear shop in shop.
Our Christmas Windows were a labour of love, with the planning starting on the way back from a buying trip to Paris. The finished effect is perhaps one of favourites to date, what do you think?
For our Christmas event weekend we had the team from Lulu Copenhagen in store doing ear piercing (the team may have had quite a few new piercings themselves!), we had a styling masterclass with the girls from Lescarf and our ever popular lucky dip!
Charity: With your support we raised £1,215 for the Calm Charity (Campaign against living miserably) and £990 for Rennie Grove Peace hospice. Thankyou for your support, as always.
Team: We welcomed Becky back from Maternity leave in March and our lovely Laura welcomed her baby girl, Isla to the world in November.
We welcomed the lovely Aille and Monita to the team and bid farewell to Hazel for a while as she jetted off to Los Angeles!
Charlotte was promoted to General Manager to further support myself and Hannah was promoted to senior website assistant. Huge Congrats to both of them. 😊
Press: We had some exciting press in 2024. The effortlessly cool team at Sheerluxe named us in their 8 multi brand boutiques worth knowing about, The Telegraph featured us in their top boutiques list and Deryane was back on BBC breakfast talking all about Small Business Saturday.
We had some great trade press features with Drapers, Boutique magazine and Bira. I joined the Pure London trade show on their advisory board and featured on the Tiny Travel Ship page for my holiday destination tips on how to travel stylishly with a little one.
We did some fun collaborations this year with The Alban Way and influencers Kate of Wears My Money, Debbie Le Grainger, Kat Kenyon, Emma at Lucy Peachslice and Gemma at the shoe loving stylist. Watch this space for more to come…
Industry and Travel:
2024 was a year of being out and about at industry events and trade shows. Attending the Drapers Future of Fashion event with Jenna was a great way to think about future planning and ideas for the business. Trade shows were aplenty, scouting out new collections and product to inspire you.
Copenhagen proved immensely inspiring as ever with myself & Charlotte going in January, and Charley accompanying me in the Summer. Having met some great people and some exciting brands we have a little bit of a brand shake up for 2025 with some very special new collections launching in 2025.
Paris was a whirlwind day trip in the Autumn but proved inspiring for myself & Charlotte and the year was finished off with my husband Chris and I going to Copenhagen for the Ganni presentation alongside some festive shopping & inspiration.
We launched 19 new brands in 2024: Damson Madder, Louise Misha, Seventy + Mochi, Queens of Archive, Roxanne Assoulin, Rains, Meotine, Sorbet Island, The Somewhere Company, Ampersand perfume, Dragon Diffusion bags, Sui Ava, Le Scarf, Vanessa Baroni, Scarlett Poppies, Carrement Belle, Glas, Dansi & Bibi Lou. Don’t forget, if there is a brand you would love to see at The Dressing Room, let us know and we will see what we can do!
Not one to be beaten, 2024 was a year to rebuild and recover the business from our malicious attack in 2023, so I assessed everything, dug deep and made sure as a team that we could deliver the very best retail experience for you with brands that you would love for years to come and a team that you would love to meet either instore or online. We are just at the beginning of our recovery journey, so Thank you to all of you that have supported this small business this year, it means the world to us and we hope to keep on making you smile through fashion for 2025 and beyond.
With love
Deryane and The Dressing Room team xx
