Skall Studio
Founded in 2014 by sisters Julie and Marie Skall, Skall Studio began as a value-driven brand long before sustainability became a buzzword in fashion. Known for fair production, fur- and leather-free collections, and timeless designs made from natural fibres, Skall Studio reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, animal welfare, and environmental care. Rooted in a strong family legacy, the brand’s ethos is tied to its Danish heritage.
The Skall family story traces back to Northern Jutland, where Julie and Marie’s great-grandfather collected seashells to sustain the family. The name “Skall,” meaning seashell in Danish, symbolises a connection to nature and simplicity. This heritage inspires the sisters, who often walked the same beaches collecting seashells, leading to their favourite mantra: “Everything is connected.”
Skall Studio embraces these core values. By using mono-materials like organic cotton, linen, and wool, the brand ensures breathability and recyclability, reducing environmental impact. Notably, Skall Studio offers GOTS-certified clothing guaranteeing transparent and ethical production processes.
The brand’s wool is a standout feature, sourced from organic Danish sheep or recycled through Manteco’s innovative MWool® technology. Undyed and natural, it highlights Skall Studio’s dedication to sustainable practices. Similarly, Skall Denim is crafted from 100% organic cotton, reflecting the label’s focus on fair wages and eco-friendly cultivation.
From supporting family-run suppliers to promoting minimalism with classic collections, Skall Studio champions the principle that “less is enough.” By intertwining craftsmanship, ethical sourcing, and timeless design, Skall Studio continues to inspire a conscious approach to fashion across Denmark and the UK.
